River HongBao 2006 (Part 2)
1:56 PM okie!! today managed to squeeze in a bit of free time to blog a bit.. River HongBao is fun.. though i did not get to go to my relatives' houses for Chinese New Year visiting... but i m glad I did not missed out the fun that I m having, yes, still on-going, at the River HongBao. Lemme start with the daily routine.. In front of my booth, there's this Wall's ice cream stall.. the PTs ring the ice-cream bell like no body business.. we are only one step away from them, so u can imagine the bell ringing constantly every now and then.. Sometimes, their PTs will be listening to their MP3 players and they have no idea how loud they are ringing the bell.. Jus imagine that!! So i manage to get to know a few of the ice cream people and get them to stop ringing their bell constantly.. And if they dun stop, I will threaten to throw ice cubes from my ice boxes at them. haha!! Thank god nothing like such has happened! Next to our booth is the Hotel Park Royal Food Bazaar.. The manager, i think, is quite nice.. will bring us FREE food from time to time.. heehee. The only bad thing is that they will be having this loud speaker every night besides their booth, playing Chinese New Year music. Pretty loud. Behind, there is this missionary from Thailand that will try to gather crowd to his booth starting from every evening.. Speaking loudly into his mic, playing Thai music.. and the religion chatting.. It can get very frustating.. especially when he repeat the same thing, abt 3 times, every night, for the 15 days of River HongBao. And our booth is in the middle of all this happenings, so much surrounded sound system. JUZ imagine.. when the 3 are on-going at the same time.. sometimes, i SERIOUSLY cannot heard wat drinks my customers want, i have to lip read!!! faint* Sometimes, my booth can get so packed with business that 3 person are not enough.. (highest selling record - over 100 cartons - one day) so i cannot afford any staff to be stoning. Yes!! I have staffs that STONE.. STONE... STONE. Thank God again, they dun get to work on many days. As we dump the drinks in the ice boxes to keep them cold.. when we retrieve them from the boxes for our customers, they will be cold but wet.. and we will wet the floor inevitably. Heard that it dun happen to other drinks stalls.. hmmm, i wonder y. Anyway, FYI, our floor is painted red. Red painted floor + water = paint run. yes.. and i got the seams of my jeans stained. Luckily it's removeable.. Now, the red painted floor has almost got the red paint all washed off.. Because of the crowd, we try to help out, including carrying of the cartons of drinks and emptying of ice packs into the ice boxes. dunno whether is it b/c of that, tend to build a bit of arm muscles.. haha!! Some customers are so amazed by the strength that we have, cos we managed to open bottle caps that the MALE customers are unable to.. zai sia~ Dunno whether is because we got the strength, or our hands are so numb from the ice boxes that we cannot feel the pain from the ribbed caps OR simply because they never eat rice (in Chinese) But it seriously make us look good and they look bad... LOL There are fireworks every night.. yes! Every night, different display of fireworks, sponsored by different companies. I have never see soooo much fireworks in my entire life. The weather has been good for the River Hongbao.. bright sunny days, strong winds that blow the leaflets from the trees into our booth. My PT was laughing at me when i told her that the wind and the leaflets blowing in look so much like in kung-fu action movies where the martial figthers are standing in a forest, staring at each other, preparing for a showdown. haha!! watch too much movies liao. Except for yesterday where it was pouring when we are about to close for the day. okie lah.. that's about all the happening.. ciao~ 0♥ in the cookie jar |
